July Series on Colossians 24th July 2011.

This week, as we think on the rest of the third chapter of the letter to the Colossians, we note the positive aspects of Paul’s teaching on how a Christian ought to behave.

We see how the general teaching, with its emphasis on the primacy of “love”; similar to Paul’s teaching to the Corinthians, is the basis from which instruction on personal relationships is set.

We reflect on how those relationships would have been a radical challenge to the “way of the world” in which they were first delivered, and how their mutuality is based on respect for a fellow believer who is also a part of the body of Christ.

Again the centrality of the individual’s relationship with Jesus is the key to how they relate to others and to the peace which they share.
