Kitchen Update

Through June and July, a new kitchen has been installed in the former vestry.

This is only stage one of our plans to sell Church House which have already taken several years to develop and several more stages will be needed before we have the hall space we require for future usage.

At present the Kitchen will be fully fitted out through August and we hope to have an opening "lunch" to inaugurate the switch from the church house kitchen in September.

Meantime we will also be having the hall reinstated through a mix of professional and volunteer help.

Also, the office spaces upstairs will be fully operational albeit on a limited access basis until we can complete stage three.

That stage depends on stage two which is the disjoining of Church House to allow for its sale. Building warrant and planning and other permissions for that work is now being addressed, paid for, like stage one, through a mix of your contributions to the "New Kitchen Fund" and loan from General Trustees of Church of Scotland.

The funding of stage three will come from the balance of funds as per agreements at our Annual Stated meetings.

The kitchen is not simply a change for the moment but part of our long-term plans for the future of our building.

September and Beyond

Through September we hope all our regular activities will resume though some may be in different locations as we begin to stop using church house.

Throughout summer Wednesday worship has been held in the sanctuary and we aim to make more use of that space as we move ahead with changes.

The Kirk Session responding to your comments and feedback are addressing different ways of sharing the Sacrament of the Lord's Supper.

Given most people stay for the monthly "informal" communion we are looking at how we share the elements during our regular services and welcome your comments on how September's service works.

Guild Week is moving to September too this year so watch out for that and the service marking it on 15th September.

We hope to be open as usual for Doors Open Day Weekend.

Harvest Thanksgiving will be on 6th October details to follow.

Also, in October we hope to welcome Rev Eduard Enslin on "familiarisation placement" with us full time for the following year as he moves from South Africa to Scotland.

Lots to look forward to and lots to be involved with in this changing time in our life as congregation serving the whole of our multifaith community.
